June 24, 2023. When natural
disasters occur and normal radio communications are disrupted or overwhelmed,
Amateur Radio has always played a role in such emergencies.
To maintain a state of readiness, The American Radio Relay League
conducts a two day test called Field Day, where Radio Amateurs bring out their
portable radio equipment, generators and tents and operate continuously to
provide reliability and readiness.
Today Paddy and I visited the Ocean-Monmouth
Amateur Radio Club in Howell which operated Field
Day in both the Howell Pavilian and in a tent.
Large banner identifying the club to the public.
Operators and contact loggers doing Field Day within the Pavilian.
Outside the Pavilian was another Field Day operating position.
Revisited Field Day at night.
Yep the emergency generator was supplying power to the Field Day opertions.
Outside the Pavilain the tent operating position was operating using Morse Code and it had its own emergency generator too.
During my two photo trips I found the members of the Ocean-Monmouth Amateur Radio Club to be very friendly and helpful providing me information on Field Day Activities.
